Best Music Conservatories or Summer Music Programs in Spain or Latin America?

Best Music Conservatories or Summer Music Programs in Spain or Latin America?
I am a 16 (almost 17) year old violinist in the United States. I plan to apply to music conservatories in the United States next year and am preparing for auditions. I am also near fluent in Spanish and love Spanish and Latin American culture. What music conservatories might I consider for my future studies in Spain or Latin America? Are there good summer programs for pre-conservatory student in Spain and Latin America?

Student Visa for Spain?

Student Visa for Spain?
I wasn't sure about the Student Visa turnaround time which happens to be 7 weeks. I have been accepted to a school in Madrid. Everything is ready to go except my visa. The day I'm leaving is Feb 1st. THe program lasts until May 29th. My question is can I go without a student visa? If I get a visa when I get there it lasts for 90 days. Can I just leave to a non schengen country and come back to give myself another 30 days? Let me know if there are any other options. I can't cancel this trip!

When I went to school in Madrid in 1992, my memory is that I went to the Spanish embassy in Houston and was issued a visa on the spot, no waiting. I don't know if things have changed since then, but definitely call the Spanish embassy in your area to find out....

if you have been accepted as a student, you must ask for a student visa, otherwise the school will not let you enter the courses or start the school; the student visa must be applied while out of the country, not while in the country ; after your student visa is expired, if you are from a visa waiver country? you may go back, where are you from? come back and add your country, i cannot answer you legally without the origin of your country.edit your question with the little pencil under it.

i have a friend that lived in Spain to flee the war in Bosnia.. she never complained about Spain being racist and she was in immigrant in that country. You'll have to see when he gets there. Just because one person says that a country is 'racist' does not mean that there are not open-minded people that still live there. I have several friends from Spain that are definitely not closed off or racist in any way.

There are problems everywhere with racism. He should be fine.

dont worry about it. dont judge one person just because you hear something about them from someone from a completely different country. i don't get pissed at ALL canadians just because SOME practice the "sport" of clubbing seals, or ALL white people just because SOME hate blacks for no reason, etc. yaknow :]

If he's racist send him back. Or lock him in the cellar.

Hi. I am from Spain. This may surprise you but about 12% of our population are immigrants. Most of them from Latin america, followed by east europeans and people from north center and south of Africa, since we are the nearest european country to Africa. So you see, it cannot be a "culture shock". We have the same problems that you do in Canada with racism. And don't tell me you all live in peace and harmony because that's not true in any country. There always will be some stupid people that feel better than other rest. Your Argentinean friend may have had a bad experience here, but it doesn't mean that the whole country is racist. Exactly where do you get these ideas of spanish people being more racist than any other country?
6 :
People in Spain are NOT racist, any more than any place else. That is crap! He will surely be told to accept what he sees as the local culture and ways...that's what exchange students are all about...and they ARE prepared by the organizations as to what to expect. I have a friend from Spain who lives here...US. No worries.

I feel sorry for him does he know he's going to a racist trolls house?? Maybe we should warm him
8 :
In Spain we have a lot of immigrants too, and not everybody is a racist.

England is amazing! I am 14 and me and my sister who is 13 went and visted freinds we have in Harpenden. It was a great experience, and even though they speak English they have a way different life style than us here in the U.S. I had an amazing time visiting London and seeing many beautiful buildings and going on the London Eye! If you want anymore info on what to do there and what its like email me at vans_girl102@yahoo.com

either would be a great experience ... but do you speak any Spanish? ... if you go to Spain without speaking any Spanish you'll have a hard time unless you're going to a school/family which is English speaking (and there are many thousands of Brits living on the Costa's in Spain)
