What does a student from Spain have to do to go to college in the US?
Currently I am 16 and from Spain. I want to study filmmaking in the US, but I don't know what i have to do to apply and if is possible some kind of financial aid for international students. Also, if you know about good colleges (about filmmaking) tell me!! =D

Well filmmaking is a type of industry where you have loads of people have degrees in it and hardly any of them can get jobs. For studying it you want to be in California, where the industry thrives. You will have to get your passport before applying, and every school may have slightly different admissions qualifications, so you will have to find a school that you want to attend first. You may be able to get a scholarship, but the main bulk of your aid will have to be in loans.

I am assuming that you are already enrolled at University in your own country ? - If that is the case then I have attached a link that will tell you about the application process - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/102-applying-for-a-student-exchange-program-in-spain.html
2 :
Tumbit's site is VERY good =] - and has answered many questions I wanted to know also !! (If it works the same for Erasmus for France?) But the people who will be able to advise you the best is YOUR current University, maybe you can even speak to student's who have been to Spain before and ask about their experiences and what they'll do better

It's "EXCHANGE" Student. And you do this through your school. You must already be a student before you can be an exchange student, and you apply to the exchange program at your school.

I'm not sure about that NIE...That's insurance? Or an ID number? Official papers that come from your home country are acquired at your Consulate...Visas come from Spain, so...National offices in your town/city? Ayuntamiento? I assume you have reported this to the police? Did they tell you where to go? What about the school? Are you there on a program? Is there a Director whose job it is to make sure that you are okay? They would be your best resource...
2 :
do you mean you have been robbed or that you have got a job if you have got a job you will loose your student visa as students on a visa are not allowed to work and if you loose your visa you will be sent home to get an nie number you will have to go to your nearest central police station and apply for one you will need your passport so if you are not an eu citizen you will not get one and employers have had so much hassle from the law about hiring people without one they will not employ you if they do they are fined and you are sent home on the first available flight

Make the report to the Guardia Civil first of all. Apply for the NIE in Comisaría de Policia Nacional. They also have your students visa in the computer. But the "denuncia" at Guardia Civil is the most important!!!

Should I get an exchange student from Spain or Italy?

Should I get an exchange student from Spain or Italy?
I will be hosting an exchange student next semester, and I can't choose whether to get one from Spain or Italy. Any suggestions?

I would choose Italy.

First, thank you for opening your home to a new family member! If it's a short-term arrangement, it doesn't really matter. If this will be a long-term (semester or longer) arrangement, I think it's better to choose someone based on shared interests and personality than on home country. To be blunt, if you don't get along with the student, nationality won't matter much. Likewise, if you do get along, it won't matter much either. I guess it depends on which country you want to learn about more.

My best friend was an exchange student from Spain. She's absolutely lovely, and I've been over to Spain several times to visit her. With that said, her host mom later hosted a girl from Germany and one from Italy simultanelously. The Italian girl was sent home after a few months for sleeping around with guys from the high school, abusing drugs, and so forth. I'm sure this had nothing to do with her nationality, more with her morals and uprbringing. Maybe you could find out a little about both students...and see which one appeals to you more. I'm naturally biased, as I love Spanish people. Nationwide, family seems to be their number one priority...all businesses shut down from 2pm to 5ish every day, and this is when families eat lunch together, have conversation, and simply spend quality time with one another. My best friend frequently talks with her host-mom now, 5 years later. They're very close. I'd go with Spain, but that's just me ;)

I'm italian_ so thank you and choose the italian! Truth is italian and spanish people are very similar! I believe these exchanges eventually lead to you going to Spain or Italy? In this case choose the italian! Hope my suggestion helps you! Oriana from Florence
